About the game

Rooftops. Tricks. No brakes.

SMK Rush is a 3-lane arcade runner set across a golden-hour city. You play as Dash, a hooded rooftop courier, and sprint through three districts that repeat in order: the downtown towers, the Ironworks industrial yards and the brick rooftops of Old Town.

Obstacles are real rooftop objects: AC units, scaffolds, barriers, shipping containers and water towers. Coins come in arcs that follow your jump. Jump pads launch you into tricks, and Rook, the rooftop security guard, and his drone Hawkeye are always close behind. Stumble twice while they are near and you are busted.

Coins you bank unlock seven more characters, outfits, power-up upgrades and the premium SMK Jersey. Everything you buy is cosmetic or a power-up upgrade, bought with in-game coins only. There is no real money in the game.

Guide

How to play

  1. Press Play. A short tutorial runs the first time and can be replayed from Settings.
  2. Change lanes to dodge obstacles. One swipe always equals one lane, however long the swipe.
  3. Jump over low obstacles and roll under high ones. Swiping down in the air fast-falls you back to the roof.
  4. Collect coins and power-ups: the Courier Satchel, Rush Hour (a 2x multiplier, 3x while Rook is close) and the Hard Hat, which saves you from one bust.
  5. Hit a jump pad and do tricks in the air. Chain them for a combo multiplier up to x5, but land clean: landing mid-trick makes you stumble.
  6. Keep it clean. A stumble brings Rook close for 6 seconds. A second stumble while he is close ends the run. Clean running shakes him off.

Features

What makes a run

Second Wind: time slows and an arrow shows which way to swipe to slip free

Second Wind

Landed tricks fill your Grit meter. With full Grit, when Rook is about to catch you, time slows and he lunges from one side. Swipe the other way within 2.5 seconds to slip free. It works once per run.

Sky Kicker gust pad in front of a rooftop gap

Sky Kicker

A one-shot gust pad that only appears before a gap between buildings. It throws you about 44 metres with long airtime, and every trick you land during the flight scores double.

Pause screen showing the daily Route Stamps card

Route Stamps

Each day, three rooftop landmarks are on the route: a water tower, neon sign, crane, dish, pigeon coop or clock tower. Land a trick beside one to stamp it. Stamp all three for +500 coins, once a day.

A trick popup with the combo multiplier

Tricks and combos

Sky Grabs, 360 Spins and Backflips off jump pads or any big jump. Chain them for a combo multiplier from x2 up to x5. Land mid-trick and you stumble.

Rook the security guard chasing Dash across a rooftop

Rook and Hawkeye

The rooftop security guard and his drone chase you in at the start of every run, then drop back. They close in when you stumble, and clean running shakes them off.

FAQ

Questions

Something else? Contact us.

Is SMK Rush free?

Yes. It is free to play in any modern browser. There are no real-money purchases; everything in the shop is bought with coins you earn in runs.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It is built for phones first and supports portrait and landscape. On desktop, use the arrow keys or WASD. If it runs slowly, lower Graphics quality in Settings.

Where is my progress saved?

Coins, unlocks and stats are saved in your browser's local storage on this device. Clearing your browser data, or playing on another device or browser, starts a fresh save. We do not have accounts or servers that store your progress.

Are there ads?

SMK Rush may show a small number of ads to keep it free. They never appear during active play: only an optional "watch an ad" revive or coin bonus that you choose, and an occasional break between runs, which you can turn off in Settings. See our Privacy Policy for how ads use cookies.

Who made it?

SMK Rush was made for SMK Esports, the Sharp Minded Killers fighting game community team. The 3D city, outfits and audio are made in code. Character base bodies and animations are by Quaternius (CC0), and rendering uses three.js (MIT).
